Where Can I Buy Silicone Sheets for Raised Scar ?

I have a small raised scar in front of my chest. Even though it’s small but it is noticeable because it is the the only point on my chest where I wear a tank top or a heart shape T-shirt. People keep asking me what it is and it makes me embarrassed. It was a pimple and then I kept poking it and now it turns into a scar and never goes away.

I have it for 3 years. It’s red and ugly. I heard about the silicone sheet which is very useful for some people, so I want to give a try. But i dont know where i can get it. There are so many products of silicone sheet online such ReJuveness but I’m not really sure which one I go for. Please help me.

I recently had shoulder surgery and bought a gel called Mederma to help reduce the scar. I got it at a Longs Drugstore. They had several products for scar reduction. They had the silicon sheets but I hadn't researched them so I went with the gel. I'm guessing that most drugstores carry products like this since Longs does.

I've also been using the Mederma on an older, raised scar on my arm…it seems to be helping….but slowly.

You can buy at drug stores like CVS or Walgreens. Smith & Nephews’ Cica Care silicone sheet is the most reputable brand, because it was original version. All the brands simply imitated Cica-care with their own silicone sheets. Also, the most research studies were done using Cica-care, and it appears to be effective for red and raised scars. Cica-care sheets are very durable and they last from two weeks to a month.

Another reputable brand is Mepiform, whose colour matches the skin, but each piece lasts for about 7 days (you can cut out a size that matches your scar).

The best way to treat scar quickly is to have it surgically excised so it becomes a flat incision line, and apply silicone sheet on it immediately after the wound healing is complete. If you apply it to a 3-yr-old scar, it will take a *very* long time to see an improvement, if at all.
